A Strong Team Effort, Thanks Girls !!!
Game Date : Nov. 16th, 2002
November 25th, 2002 - The last game of the season took place this past Saturday at Arroyo Seco.  The girls were set to play their hearts out, and they did.  Like most other games, the first half was a scoreless fair match.  Strong offence and defense made for a great game and found BreAnna scoring 2 shots against the opposing team.

Many shots were taken on goal by Alexis, Rebecca, Jamie, and Shelby and with great help from their teammate Abigail.  Abby drove the ball from the defensive end right to the offence with

perfect timing on the ball. She also had the ball set up as she was the right wing setting the ball in play for the Mid-fielders.  How was she so strong and on top of the ball so much ?  It was easy, she played her positions with great forward motion and never giving up on the charge after the ball.  Great Job Abigail, you are our "Player of the Game" !

It must be said, that Tatiana did a great job as goal keeper and Midfielder. More than a strong defense came from both Melissa and Kristen, making for a proud coach.

The girls didn't win the game, but they won everyone's hearts !  Not just in this game, but the entire season was filed with big hearts and big smiles !  I have to say this has been a great team all-in-all.  I didn't see it coming together as it did.  These girls became one unit and made us all proud ..........GO KICKIN' IT !

Kickin' it, Kickin' It, and they kept Kickin' It For The Win !!!
Game Date : Nov. 16th, 2002
November 16th, 2002 - These girls started on time and on a roll.  With very little hesitation, Kickin' It took the field as if it was their own.

Strong aggressive plays were set forth by the girls with no holding back. Jamie and BreAnna showed us right from the first kick off that their skills and ball control have more than just improved, they were sharpened. With a strong backing from Rebecca, the girls were able to play their set positions, and with that control,

follows a goal.  Alexis was in it to win it with her efforts being shown on the offensive end and the defensive end.Abigail stood her ground along with Shelby and made for a strong defense for the opposing team to challenge. The tough team named "Dragonflies" got past the girls and took some big shots on Tatiana while she was tending goal. As always, Tatiana was there for us with outstanding efforts.

We scored, they scored, we scored, they scored, making for a great soccer match.  Being tied 2-2, the heat was on with these girls giving it there all.  Tatiana made a game winning shot with just minutes left in the game.  An un-expected penalty took place in the penalty box, calling for a one on one play between goal keepers. Keeper to keeper ?  Yes, the Dragonflies goal keeper came out, and more than once.  A strong un-expected move for the keeper to come out and take shots on goal during regular play, but since day one, Kickin' It has known all about that crazy, but legal move. As the heat was on to become a tie 3-3 game, the shot never went in and Kickin' It was on the move to score one more time.  With an un-expected play of her own, BreAnna, as she was keeping goal, got the ball from the miss-shot that was fired at her by the opposing keeper, and dropped the ball on the ground and took off. With strong ball control, BreAnna was able to get the ball in our play with just seconds left in the game, earning her the "Player of the Game Award" !

A great 3-2 win girls, you are one heckuva team !

Kicking’ it Takes The Win !!!
Game Date : Nov. 9th, 2002
Assistant coach Ted here, writing to tell you that Kicking’ it had a great game Saturday afternoon.  You should all be very proud, you played a fantastic soccer game.  Great job Alexis, on the two winning goals.  To all the other players; you all showed up fired up and ready to play.  It really showed out there on the field.  No one gave up, and you stuck to the other players like glue, and that’s why we kept getting the ball back.  Well… Just wanted all of you to know I thought   you played an excellent game.

Fair, Competitive, Aggressive, and They Take The Win !!!
Game Date : Oct. 26th, 2002
October 29th, 2002 - In my years of coaching, I have found that sometimes you just have to go back to basics, and even sound like a "Real Coach" at times.  I always try and let the girls know that we are here to have fun, but the spirit of the game is highlighted by the win, and that takes team work.

After laying down the "Soccer Law" at Wednesday's practice, the girls showed up to Saturday's game with a different appeal to the sport. Their high spirits and an obvious readiness for the game, showed as soon as they hit the field for their warm up routine.

A true sign of team work was laid on the line right from the start.  Great ball control was shown with a consistency that proved these girls were hungry for a win.  Playing their positions really paid off as for the passes were direct and in control.

While the other team was very strong in spirit and play, Kickin' It never gave.  For the 3rd game in a row, the first half of the game was scoreless for both teams.  The aggressiveness from both teams grew as the clocked wound down.  High flying passes and great trapping made for a real powerful game with a 1-0 finish, with Kickin' It taking the win.

So who is this weeks "Player of the Game" ..?  The whole Team !

These girls just earned the "Power Of Pride" award for not only making their coach proud, but their parents and families as-well !

Congratulations Girls, You Did It !

Improvement Is The Goal, And We Are Gettin' It !
Game Date : Oct. 19th, 2002
October 19th, 2002 - A coach hopes to gain skills as a team, but more important, a coaches goal, is personal stride.  Some learn faster than others, and some are more experienced, but all in all, they are all "In The Game !"  This team is coming together and the girls are reaching their personal goals more and more each week.

One of our teams improvement is learning what we can, and what we can not do. One of our players who has shown signs of improvement is Jamie.  She has come along way, and in the past

two games, she has scored goals for the team.  Her ball control and listening skills have improved tremendously and it really shows on the field. Her achievement for the team and herself has earned her the "Player of the Game" award.  WAY TO GO .. JAMIE   !!!

As I said, the girls are all improving. We are working on personal goals and the team stuff can come together as it may, but it is great to be a coach and watch the "Personal Best" be successfully met, no matter what the challenge.

I want to thank the team for my birthday party at practice.. That was more than two thumbs up cool !!!

Team Work, Defense, And A Happy Coach !
Game Date : Oct. 12th, 2002
October 12th, 2002 - What an awesome display of team work from the girls.  Ball control, passing and a great defense showed these girls are improving every week.

A score-less first half was highly awarded to our goal keeper Tatiana.  Since the beginning of the season, Tatiana has been back there at the net, and showing the other teams her talent.  Her reach for the ball, drop kicks, and control has earned her the "Player of the Game" award. Congratulations Tati, you deserve it !

Making out standing plays on the field and controlling the ball gets us what we want, goals !  Rebecca was in control of the defense and did an outstanding job. Jamie showed a great improvement in ball control and playing her position ending up scoring a powerful shot for the team.

Team Shows Strong Efforts and Skills !
Game Date : Sept. 28th, 2002
What an improvement in skills from these girls. Such outstanding efforts and a show of team play, I had a hard time nominating the Player of the Game.  As always, I asked the girls and it was agreed that Shelby and Melissa both deserve the honor of the Award.

Shelby has shown an improvement at every practice and every game, but this past soccer match, she put it all together.

The first quarter of the game was almost like watching a high school match, with both teams playing their positions and passing with control and style. The opposing team scored in the last few second of the quarter.  The strong defensive plays from Melissa and Shelby was the focus from both sidelines.  Playing their positions, passing and basically in control of the ball shows that working well together to get a goal works, and not just the ball in the net.  A real goal.  The goal is to gain control, and we all know that ... "Control Gets The Goal !"
In the second half of the game, these girls worked well with the offensive line of Alexis and Rebecca.  The girls had the ball at the net and had the opposing teams defense working hard to hold off the girls.

Shelby had such great control and stayed on the ball like never before.  She brought the ball from a quarter field drop kick, from our goal keeper Breanna, and like a soccer machine, took the ball down the side and past it to Alexis.  Melissa was set and in position, and

with an awesome pass from Alexis, Melissa trapped, controlled and took her shot, scoring a perfect "nothing but net" shot.  Team work at it's finest, Way To Go Girls !

Heat, Getting Beat, But Still Havin' Fun
Sept. 21st, 2002 - In the heat of the California sun, the girls took the field ready to play.

The return to the field after the previous games was a little tough for the team.  After being abused last weekend, the girls seemed to shy from other players, and even the ball.

I have explained to the team that there will be games that get played by a rule book, and some played by the coach.

This past Saturday, we played our selves into a loss.  Being played by our own game was tough for all to see, but the girls still say they had fun.  The opposing team had great ball control, and for us to know "Control Gets The Goal", we had none.

A fair game all in all, but one of our team players stood out among both teams.  Alexis showed the hustle, the want, and the control to win and played the field for her team.  Alexis was back in defense, yet seemed to run the offence as-well.  Hearing all the parents yell her name only proved to me that Alexis is our Player Of The Game.

A special thanks to our Referee -  Brian was to be the Assistant Referee, but took the center to help the other ref. get a little practice in.  Thanks Brian !

Hats Off To The Girls, For Playing Their Games From The Heart
Sept. 14th, 2002 - The girls were ready for the double header. But in the first game, we were shy players....

In only our second practice game, we felt like we were in a tournament against the opposing team.  We had four girls to their 7 and they played us like we had a full team.

I would really like to give all the girls that showed up an award of player of the game, but this week it will go to Rebecca...

Rebecca was all over the field and seemed ready to pass-out, but she wanted to keep going.  I give two thumbs-up to all of the girls who were on the field for us, it was definitely a team effort.

A special thanks to our Referee - Brian !  He gave us a fair game and I can't thank him enough for volunteering his time and efforts.

Shelby has to get a special mention for her outstanding show of care and concern for the VIP team.  Shelby found a friend in a little girl who asked Shelby .. "Are You My Special Friend ?" .. Shelby told her yes, and that is what AYSO 46 is all about .. It's about the kids, and this past Saturday, the kids proved to be a heart taller then the adults .. Thanks Shelby, I loved the moments of your sharing gift of love !

First Half Wall Built, Second Half Held On For 2 to 1 Victory
Sept. 7th, 2002 - The first game of the season is always going to get the butterflies going, but it seemed as the girls told their butterflies to kick-back, while they were "Kickin' It !

The girls played well the whole game, with a very strong presence in the first half.  Alexis knows her job is to keep the ball on the opposing side of the field, and set the shot for her fellow teammates when ever possible.  Of course she also sets up her own shots and in the first half, she did her job,

and well !  Scoring with an outside shot, Alexis started the game and the season off right. Jamie's strong passes set the field and the momentum for the team. The strong defense from the Angels in Blue, called for more aggressive soccer then expected with-in the first 10 minutes of play and the season.

The teams second goal was scored by Kristen, who showed more control then most on the field.  Her control, and ability to be ready at anytime to receive the pass, placed her in he right spot to take the shot and score her first of the season.  As she showed signs of wanting the next shot, it never seemed to come against the strong Angels in Blue. But with the outstanding efforts from Kristen, and the will to go-on, earns her the "Player of the Game" Award from the team.

The second half was tough, and the team did all the could to keep the AIB from scoring, but the well mannered team was able to get one past the girls and in-to the net.
